highly commended honour for Headway

Our friends at Headway do a fantastic job improving life after brain injury. As a UK wide charity, they work hard to touch the lives of over 1 million people every year.

Recognition for hard work is a lovely thing. And today we say a huge congratulations as Headway have just received the best possible recognition for their website.

Last night was the British Medical Association’s Patient Information awards. Headway’s website, designed and developed by our wonderful digital team, won a Highly Commended award. It is like Christmas has come early.

In 2015, we worked closely with Headway to create a new website that offered the best online experience for the people they support. It had to be optimised for multiple device types as well as easy to use for all visitors, from brain injury patients to the professionals who work with them.

Accessibility was at the heart of this project so being recognised as being a commendable resource of patient information is the biggest thumbs up we could have asked for.

The judges commented: “This is an excellent resource which provides a lot of information in a clear and accessible way. It is interleaved with patient stories that illustrate the many different aspects of managing a brain injury… the pictures that go with the case studies make it feel very personal and speak directly to people’s experiences of brain injury”.

Andrew Taylor, Website and Social Media Manager at Headway, said: "I think it recognises the quality of the partnership between Headway and MEDIAmaker in delivering a comprehensive and accessible website to people affected by brain injury".
