What it's all about

The beauty of a visual aid such as a photograph or a diagram is its power to communicate. Less is definitely more. It is better to show a single statement in conjunction with a fantastic photograph to communicate one message rather than filling a Powerpoint slide full of stuff that’s been achieved or that needs doing. Be brave and ruthless. Identify key information and enhance it. Amplify your delivery by simplifying your message.

Your presentation must work for you but equally it must work effectively for your audience. Try to include some participatory role for your audience. Powerpoint Presentations are at their best when slides and presenter(s) work together – seamlessly delivering the right information, at the right time, to captivate the audience.

Next time you use bullet points in your presentation THINK about how you want your audience to engage with your messages. Bullet-point slides yield just a 15-20% recall of information after just an hour.  But if bullet points don’t work, what’s the alternative?

Effective professional presentations are about clear communication and we at MEDIAmaker are here to help.

If you’re still digging for oil 10 minutes into a presentation – stop digging!

Case Study

The Brief

As part of an Annual Awards ceremony we were tasked with creating a dynamic presentation which promoted the work of Award winners incorporating provided materials and image research.

The Creativity

Working in conjunction with the video production team and a voiceover artist our presentation design services devised a History Book method utilising Keynote to playback the various media. By programming Keynote to play video with a voiceover it could be timed to play at the given moment for the correct length of time thus retaining control over the various elements.

The Delivery

The History Book idea worked seamlessly within Keynote and as part of a very packed Awards agenda. The pace of the voiceovers dictated the length of the videos which were timed to approx. 2 minutes and were a mixture of looking back to the past and recognition of more recent collaborative working.
